We offer a vast variety of workshops at The Knit Studio, ranging from knitting and crochet to sewing and spinning.

Crochet Mandala
Saturday 21 October 1.00pm to 4.00pm
The perfect workshop to help improve your skills. Crocheting Mandalas is the perfect way to have fun with colour and learn new stitches. We will also discuss mindfullness and how crochet can help you acheive this. Some yarns, patterns, and workshop notes and light refreshements included. Please bring a selectin of crochet hooks and any cotton yarn you might like to use.

Robbie the Robin Christmas Workshop
Friday 27 October 1.00pm - 4.00pm
Start your Christmas Knitting early! Get away from the Christmas madness and spend the afternoon creating your very own Robin to brighten your home or office. An exclusive Knit Studio design only available via this workshop - you will want to knit a whole flock of this cute little guy.

Knit a Mobius Cowl
Saturday October 28 1.00pm - 4.00pm
Start your Christmas Knitting early! A perfect one skien project and once you have mastered the Cast On - quite simple to do. Spend a half day learning how to do this interesting cast on and cowl!

Christmas Crafternoon
Friday 24 November 1.00pm - 4.00pm
Another pre Christmas workshop - this is one with a difference. No knitting skills required. Hosted by the talented designer and workshop tutor Janice Anderson (formally of Rowan yarns) you will make some Christmas heart themed decorations for your home. Using felted hand knitted Sanquar patterned fabric, button, ribbons, beads, cinnamon sticks and thread. Most materials, workshop notes, design guidance, and Christmas themed light refreshments. Please feel free to bring any fabrics, buttons, threads etc you might wish to use.

Shadow/Illusion Knitting
Saturday 25 November 11.00pm - 3.30pm
Shadow or Illusion knitting is a technique using 2 contrasting yarn colours. When the knitted fabric is viewed from different angles another hidden (illusion or shadow) pattern appears. A fascinating technique that you can have lots of fun with.
Hosted by the talented designer and workshop tutor Janice Anderson (formally of Rowan yarns)
Basic knitting skills required. All yarns, workshop notes and light refreshments are provided.

Learn to Knit - 1st Steps/Refresher
Friday 1 December 1.00pm - 4.00pm
This workshop is designed for the complete beginner or for those who simply wish to brush up on existing skills. We will look at how to hold the needles & yarn correctly and how to work the basic knit and purl stitches. During the afternoon we will aim to cover the following
Casting on, Knit & Purl stitch and casting off.
Needles, yarn, simple workshop notes and light refreshments will be provided.

Introduction to Short Row Shaping
Saturday 2 December 1.00pm - 4.00pm
A short introductory workshop to this technique which is becoming more popular with knitwear designers like Stephen West and Ysolda Teague. You will knit a pair of simple garter stitch mittens to enable you to master this method of shaping.
Needles, yarn, pattern, workshop notes and light refreshments will be provided.
Cost £35.00

Bookings and payments

The cost pp per workshop varies between £20 and £60.

Deposit is required to secure a place.
Numbers

Maximum number for each Full Day workshop – 8 places, minimum – 4 places.

Maximum number for each Half Day workshop – 8 places, minimum – 2 places.
Confirmation and cancellation
-
Bookings can only be confirmed on receipt of the deposit.

For cancellations up to a fortnight before the event, the full fee will be refunded if cancelled by the attendee.

For cancellations less than a fortnight before the event, 50% of the fee will be reimbursed if cancelled by the attendee.

We are unable to reimburse the fee for cancellations less than a week before event.

If the event is cancelled by the organisers, the full fee will be reimbursed or an alternative workshop date offered.
Refreshments

Light refreshments are provided throughout the day. For a Full Day Workshop, please bring your own lunch.
Other Information

There will be discounts for some supplies sold at some workshops. This is indicated where applicable.

Please bring an open mind, a small sewing kit, the required needles or hooks stated in the workshop description and any yarn you particularly want to knit with. Some materials will be supplied, unless otherwise stated.

The workshop fee covers a contribution to the running costs of The Knit Studio, refreshments during the course of the day, some materials and tutor fees. Travel and accommodation costs are not included.

At least five days prior to the workshop, a materials' list and guide to the workshop content with aims will be posted or emailed to all attendees.
